Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Why are the clinics so early and why fasted?
A. Testing hormones accurately is best early on in the morning (especially for men) and being fasted is important for both males and females as food can affect levels dramatically. We also ask people to keep hydrated and again this is important but particularly for an accurate body composition scan.
Q. Is the service confidential?
A. The report we send you only goes to you, not your doctor, not your spouse, not anyone - the only people that will see your report is who you share it with. The purpose of our service is to provide you with as much information as possible so you can decide what you want to do.
We may recommend that you go to see your GP or another healthcare professional but it will be your choice.
Q. How long does it take to get my results?
A. Usually less than a week but 10 days maximum. We're dependent on Royal Mail, the Lab and our Clinical partners and we're all subject to different stresses during our working week. Sometimes we'll get them back to you in 5 days but it's more likely a week and if you tell yourself 10 days it'll be a nice surprise when it arrives 'early'.
Q. Are you used to supporting people from all types of backgrounds?
A. OK,, this one hasn't come quite as the question above has been phrased, but we've essentially been asked that. We are a mixed and experienced team, all from Bradford and all understand and respect the different requirements for every individual that comes through our door. We are used to accommodating, in particular but not exclusively of course, our female patients of Islamic faith; so we can make sure that the only hands that touch you will be our female nurse if that is your preference.
Q. How does it work, what actually happens on the day?
A. So you register, pay a £40 deposit to secure your booking, attend at the clinic, pay the remainder of the outstanding cost for your chosen service, we take the basic info for the labs and your onsite readings (blood pressure, weight, sats, grip strength etc), then we do your body composition scan (hydration, body and fat %, cellular health), then we take your bloods, then we answer any questions you might have and you are free to go. It all takes about 15 - 20 minutes although we do like a good chat too 😏.
