CQC Position Statement

Prostate cancer effects large numbers of men and it is the most common form on cancer in men over 45. (about 55,000 cases in the UK each year). It is very treatable if caught early, but unfortunately about 12,000 men a year die each year in the UK because it wasn’t detected early enough to treat.

Free Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) Test This November

Throughout November, we’re offering a free PSA blood test when you book in for our comprehensive screening. You don't need to do anything other than attend for the normal screening where we already take bloods. This can help you learn more about your prostate health.

What is the PSA test?

The PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) test measures a protein made by the prostate gland. A small amount of PSA in your blood is normal. Higher levels can happen for many reasons, including prostate enlargement, infection, or cancer. The test on its own does not diagnose prostate cancer, but it can provide useful information about your prostate health.

Why consider a PSA test?

  • Helps detect possible prostate problems early.

  • Establishes a personal baseline for future comparisons.

  • Opens up conversations about urinary or men’s health issues.

  • Gives reassurance and peace of mind.

  • Encourages early engagement with health and screening.

Understanding the PSA blood test

What to know before testing

To get the most accurate result:
Avoid vigorous exercise, cycling, or ejaculation for 48 hours before the test, and wait until any urinary infection has cleared.

Results and next steps

Results are usually available within 7-10 days. If your PSA is higher than expected, we’ll discuss what it means and whether any follow-up is needed. A raised PSA does not necessarily mean cancer, and a normal PSA doesn’t guarantee there is none; this is an indicator of prostate health.

Take charge of your health this November

This free PSA test offer is available to all men as part of our private health screening service. It’s a simple step that could make a big difference. Check your health, know your numbers, and join us in supporting men’s health awareness this Movember.
