It’s been amazing to deliver our clinic in such beautifully artistic surroundings and that friends of well over 20 years have been so supportive to our little company.
Katy Longhurst
Friend and the inspirational developer of Ask Joan has supported: personally, with our online platform, and with connections and introductions to support our aim to make health and fitness screening accessible for all but in particular – disadvantaged and underrepresented populations and groups.
Katy has shared her inspirational story of surviving domestic abuse and developed strategies that will undoubtedly save lives.
“When calling or speaking out is too dangerous, Ask Joan steps in, turning everyday appliances like kettles, toasters, or even an air fryer into silent distress signals for those experiencing domestic abuse.
This is innovation with purpose. A lifeline hidden in plain sight. Survivors deserve protection, justice, and solutions that prioritise their safety and dignity. Transforming fear into freedom.”
Long term friend and previous colleague, John Bolloten is a documentary photographer based in Bradford, UK celebrated for his compelling and unfiltered exploration of social and cultural issues. His work is deeply rooted in capturing the raw realities of marginalised communities, often focusing on themes like addiction, poverty, and urban life.
Bolloten's approach is characterised by his intimate connection with his subjects, enabling him to portray their lives with authenticity and empathy. Through his lens, Bolloten sheds light on overlooked narratives, using photography as a powerful medium for social commentary and change.
We’re grateful he has allowed his exception documentary skills to capture some activities of our fledgling organisation.
Imperial College London
We have worked with Dr Bonnie Grant and Dr Channa Jayasena since 2021 supporting research projects and subsequent published articles in academic journals. We’ve engaged populations all over the country, from the North East to the South Coast (and in between). BloodWorks in its current format has originated from this work and it peaked our interest in the world of endocrinology and the impact that hormones can have on men and women across the country and how some do not have access to services that they could benefit from.
We intend to continue to support Imperial and other research colleagues whenever we are able to and are committed to improving learning at every opportunity.
Having first used Bodystat technology in 2007, I have yet to find a comparable alternative. Nearly 20 years later, with the support of Michael and the Bodystat team, we are using the advanced Bioelectrical Impedance Spectroscopy (BIS) technology in the Bodystat Multiscan 5000. This cutting-edge version of bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) provides individuals with a comprehensive understanding of their internal health, including body composition, hydration levels, basal metabolic rates, and raw data that offer clear insights into cellular health. Key metrics such as phase angle values (a vital indicator of cell health, where higher values suggest healthier cells) and the Prediction Marker (an indicator of fluid shifts and fluid overload) empower us to better understand and monitor health.
With this technology at our fingertips, we have unparalleled opportunities to support individuals in improving and maintaining their health.
